Patience
and impatience are all about setting our priorities right. Many times,
we live in such a way that we rush to do things because we are too
conscious of lost time. We get frustrated when things do not get done on
time or when someone delays us.
Every minute count in our lives but
what matters most is really what counts in our lives. Impatience has
always been a snare to human lives. The syndrome of getting it done
quickly has been a thorn in the flesh of this present generation. In the
real sense, impatience does nothing to help get things done, but does a
lot in causing harm.
It has sent many to untimely grave. It has
crippled destinies, landed some in the prison, rendered many homeless,
ruined many marriages and so on. Everybody wants to get there as fast
as possible but they have forgotten that there is time for everything:
‘to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the
heaven’ (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Do not run ahead of your set time, wait
patiently for God’s timing. Of what importance is running fast towards
the wrong direction. Do not be like the prodigal son who impatiently
demanded for independence. If not for God’s mercy, he would have died
ridiculously.
Learn to take account of
time in meeting your targets and deadlines. Set your priorities right,
and do things one after the other.
