TOPIC: GREAT POWER FOR GREAT EXPLOITS
Read: 2 Kings 2:1-15
MEMORISE: Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, "The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha." And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him (2 Kings 2:15).
EXPOSITION
For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more (Lk. 12:48). God is so fair and just that He does not expect too much from anyone. Why He is not asking for too much is because He justly requires what He has given. The early Christians were empowered to carry-out the assignment given to them by Jesus Christ, the Author of the Church (Heb. 12:2). Biblical record has it that they shook their world for Christ (Acts 4:29-32).
Many of us pray, fast, cry and yearn for power today, only to be given and then we refuse to produce the desired result! Are you like Gehaz, the lieutenant of Prophet Elisha? He was given an anointed and powerful staff but failed to produce the desired result. On the contrary, Elisha had truly justified the double portion anointing that fell on him. The Bible records that his master, Elijah, performed seven miracles even in his grave!
God’s release on you is not for fun, rather to demonstrate the fullness of His power and anointing. Most times, our outcry to heaven for God’s abundant release does not hold water, for it lacks justification. There would be no rain upon the earth, until there was man to till the ground (Gen. 2:5).
We must acknowledge that it is not that God’s release is unavailable or scarce, but the availability of usable men is the issue. God is not a waster. He can’t release anointing on you, if He discovers from the intent of your hear that you are going to squander it. Resolve today and always to justify His outpours on you.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Oh Lord, I refuse to be a waster of Your release on me.
2. Holy Spirit, equip me with the needed resources to demonstrate Your power in this generation.
3. Oh Lord, deliver our churches from the modern day anointed-but-sinful ministers.
