TOPIC: WATCH YOUR DECISIONS!
Read: Hebrews 11:23-26
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
MEMORISE:
But Ruth said: "Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God *(Ruth 1:16).
EXPOSITION
Our decisions have lasting effects on us and many others. The decisions of the parents of Moses had effects, not only on the family, but on the whole nation of Israel. What about Moses decision as to remaining in the palace of Pharaoh *(Exo 2:11-12)?* We would not have heard anything about him, had he decided otherwise! Even when people claim to sit on the fence, that is, being undecided about issues at stake, it is still a decision! Yes, indecision is a decision! What a paradox!
Naomi and her husband, Elimelech with their two sons naively decided to quit Bethlehem in Judah, due to famine, for the godless Moab *(Ruth 1:1-2).* What was the outcome of that rash decisions? Calamity, devastation and bereavement! Thank God Naomi was able to pick up the pieces of her life to finally return home *(Ruth 1:7).* Ruth, a Moabitess, an idolatress by religion and an alien to Israel’s commonwealth, made a difficult, dangerous and dire decision to follow the uncertain and devastated Naomi to Israel *(v. 16).* What was the result of that decision? She became one of an earthly great, great grandmother of Jesus Christ *(Matt. 1:5).
Your present career, marital, and even spiritual life are a direct result of the decisions you made in times past, good or bad. You took that decisions, and here you are, facing its consequences! Somebody claims that one can have power over his choice(s) but cannot control the consequence(s) of such choice. Have you decided for Jesus already? Your destination is heaven but if otherwise, don’t let today go! Do it now! Decision determines destiny: watch your decisions!
PRAYER POINTS
1. Father, help me to make wise and eternally valuable decisions.
2. Lord, give courage to those finding it difficult to say ‘Yes’ to You because of the fear of being killed by the haters of the gospel.
3. Help, Oh Lord, our youths to understand the implication of their today’s choices on their future.
