TOPIC: BE STEADFAST IN THE LORD
Read: 1 Thessalonian 3:6-10
MEMORISE
For what thanks can we render to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sake before our God, night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face and perfect what is lacking in your faith?_ (1 Thessalonian 3:9-10).*
EXPOSITION
One of the things that can give a father joy is to see his children doing well in their various chosen careers. Similarly, a father in the Lord would be so joyful to see the children he is bringing up, marching on for God. The news of the Thessalonian brethren doing well really gladdened the heart of Paul even in his affliction *(vv. 8-9).* If our earthly spiritual father could be so happy when we do well, how much more the Almighty God, when we stand firm in Him?
God is gladdened that He has a friend He can confide in and also bless. For you to stand firm, you must be deeply rooted in Him through prayer, study of His Word and fellowship with other children of His. Your fellowship life needs a community to survive and flourish. A community of life-minded brethren, where thoughts are shared, lifting is experienced, burdens are lifted and the strength to carry on is imparted *(Heb. 10-25).
Your firmness in the Lord must be evidenced in your life, everywhere you go. How much of God’s Word you know, will not help you if you violate people’s trust. Remember: A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city_ (Proverbs 18:19).* Moreover, anointing can shoot you into prominence, only character would keep you there.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Holy Spirit, help me to be steadfast in You, regardless of either most joyous, or the toughest situations of life, You allow me to go through.
2. Father, see me through the journey of life, in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, release Your grace to all believers undergoing difficult situations, in Jesus’ name.
