Topic: A REMINDER
Read: Psalm 49:16-20
MEMORISE: _For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him._ (Psalm 49:17)
EXPOSITION
A court jester met his lord shivering on his deathbed, one day. He asked his lord what happened and the sick man told his jester, I am going to a journey, a distant place I never knew before. The jester asked again, Where are the things you are taking with you? What preparations have you made for this journey? His lord replied, I have no preparation, I am taking nothing with me. Then the jester went inside his room, took a mock o crown which his lord had given him and placed it on the head of his lord, saying, Here is a fool's crown, you bid me give it to a more foolish person than myself anytime I meet one. Since you are going for a journey you never prepared for and yet you don't know where you are going, then you are the most foolish person on earth.
People make the same mistakes today like the lord of the jester. They meet their death without any preparation. Many do not even think about their ends. People of various ages die every day. Many were at the prime of their accomplishments when the untimely death came. The rich, the famous, kings and highly reputed people in the society also die. The question is, Do you think about the day you will also die?
Job 14:5 says, Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with You; You have appointed his limits, so that he cannot pass. This is because, is certain and no man/woman born of a man will escape it. Hope you are truly in Christ? Hope you are not just giving only your body to Christ but also your heart? The world is passing by with all its lust, but heaven will remain. Think about heaven and be committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, before it is too late.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Teach me, O Lord, to prepare for death, at all times.
2. Lord, help me not to waste my time on the worthless worldly things.
3. Pray for the aged ones you know, that the Lord would sustain them till the end and help them to make heaven, come what may.
