Topic: MAKE A LASTING IMPACT
Read:* 1 Corinthians 9:19-27
*MEMORISE:* _I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus._ *(Philippians 3:14)*
*EXPOSITION*
The Olympics are leading international sporting events, featuring thousands of athletes from different nations. In the midst of these thousands, few make a lasting, positive impact, which may be due largely to their levels of preparations before the tournament. In all the events, all compete, but one takes the coveted ultimate prize. That is why, even those at the second and third places still weep. Everyone desires the best, but do we care to go the extra mile?
The world is a place for Christians to deploy their God-given gifts for the glory of the Master. It is a land of competition, and only those who can go the extra mile win the day and become outstanding amongst many. According to our text for today, souls of men are the prizes jostled for, and the evangelists (disciples) must play according to the rule *(Luke 14:31-33)*, as humble servants, to win different people, even in the remote places, desiring to please the master, wholly. Even though the prizes won in the Olympics belong to the State, the successful athletes are not left without celebrations and compensations. Those who won gold for Nigeria in Atlanta '96 are still being remembered *(cf. v. 25)*. To make a lasting appearance, you must be ready to positively do more than the others are doing for the sake of the gospel.
What are you doing to make a difference in your local assembly? Any plan to upgrade yourself? Note that even though Paul came behind the other Apostles, he was never a push aside *(1 Corinthians 9:24-27)*. We must study how our progenitors did it, and be ready to do better for our Master Jesus Christ. What will you be remembered for? Antagonist or one that lifts the 'hand of Moses'? Make a positive lasting impression now; the time is almost over.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, don't allow me to be useless in Your eternal redemptive programme.
2. Father Lord, bestow on me the power and the will to go and win souls into Your kingdom.
3. Lord, help Your Church not to disappear from the limelight, and cause her to make lasting positive impact among the different faith in the world.
EXTRA READING FOR TODAY:* 1 Chronicles 5 & Ephesians 2
