Thought For Today June 17, 2018 : Topic - Would You Begin if You Knew the Cost?

--> Note :- Are you born again? You are never going to win the battle against the devil if you are not born again. I plead with you to give your life to Jesus today because the longer you stay in sin and remain unsaved, the more hardened your nature becomes against the purpose and the way God wants you to be for His purpose. To give your life to Jesus now, say this prayer: “Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus. I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself but Jesus died for me and shed His blood that I might be saved. Today, I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Jesus, I ask You to come into my heart, be my Lord, wash me with Your blood and make me whole. I believe with my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is my Lord. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.” I congratulate you and welcome you to the family of God if you have sincerely said that prayer. Now you are fit to discover, know and walk in your destiny. Would You Begin if You Knew the Cost?

Acts 9:15b-16

"...to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name."

Thoughts for Today:

Previously Ananias had asked the Lord to clarify His instruction. Now the Lord was giving him a glimpse of what was in store for Saul. Saul was "to carry my name before," which means he was to preach -- first to the Gentiles, next to their kings, and lastly to the people of Israel. As we know, Saul (who soon will change his name to Paul), struggled with the sequence of this direction throughout his ministry. He wanted to start with the Jews first (his people), and he always suffered the consequences as a result.

Paul (Saul) is one of my favorite authors/characters of the New Testament. Perhaps it is because he was so human. Before his conversion Paul was doing completely the wrong thing by persecuting Christians. Following his conversion he was trying to do ministry in his own way (what he wanted to do rather than what God wanted him to do) by preaching to the Jews rather than the Gentiles. As a writer, one of Paul's finest moments was his eloquent description in Romans 7:18-24 of the same feelings of frustration that I have with my own sinful nature. Paul had trouble getting it right, so I can really relate to him.

As you can tell I am a big Paul fan because he possessed many fine qualities. However, the one that I admire the most was his courage. The Lord said "I will show him how much he must suffer for my name," yet Paul began his ministry and served the Lord regardless and with full knowledge of the consequences of that service.

Questions to Ponder:

Would you willingly pursue a course that you knew would lead to hardship and trouble? What are some current examples of how you have suffered for the Lord? If you don't have any examples, why? Is it because you have been unwilling to step out and serve? Have you or would you back down in the face of adversity that comes as a result our your doing what God has told you to do? How is the Lord speaking to you in Paul's example of courage and trust?
